Livello 1  (Standard)              Traduco   il   vostro   documento   su   un   computer   che   è   collegato   ad   Internet   ed   è   protetto   da un   noto   programma   di   sicurezza,   che   viene   costantemente   aggiornata.   A   lavoro   compiuto salverò   una   copia   del   documento   e   della   traduzione   per   un’eventuale   futura   necessità   in una   cartella   destinata   al   cliente.   Questa   opzione   si   addice   ai   documenti   con   esigenze   di sicurezza   normali,   oppure   a   quelli   facendo   parte   di   una   documentazione   con   una   simile terminologia.          Perché traduzioni solitamente risultano più lunghe dell’originale? 

           Motivi principali: 1 . le   caratteristiche   specifiche   di   una   lingua.   Per   dare   un   esempio:   è   un   fatto   conosciuto   da molto   tempo   che   traduzioni   dal   latino   verso   il   tedesco   possono   essere   fino   al   40%   più lunghe   dell’originale,   a   causa   della   precisione   estrema   del   latino   e   la   possibilità   di   esprim- ere   concetti   in   modo   conciso;   ma   anche   dovuto   al   fatto   che   la   flessione   completa   ed   altri fattori   grammaticali   rendono   superfluo   l’impiego   di   certe   preposizioni   o   perifrasi.   Lo   stesso vale,   in   modo   più   contenuto,   per   traduzioni   dall’italiano   o   inglese   al   tedesco.   Invece   tradu- zioni   dall’italiano   all’inglese   o   viceversa   contengono   normalmente   circa   lo   stesso   numero   di caratteri, se non ci fosse per le seguenti considerazioni: 2 . un   testo   tradotto   è   solitamente   più   lungo   dell'originale,   perché   nella   maggior   parte   dei   casi quest’ultimo   è   stato   composto   nella   lingua   madre   dell’autore,   per   cui   spesso   accade   che certe   espressioni,   modi   di   dire   o   costruzioni,   non   possono   essere   tradotti   in   modo   lineare   o diretto   senza   perdite.   In   questo   caso   il   traduttore   deve   cercare   di   esprimerle   in   modo   leg- germente   diverso   e   sfortunatamente   meno   diretto   per   pure   esigenze   linguistiche    (spesso anche   con   l’aiuto   di   perifrasi).   Per   questo   motivo   può   capitare   che   anche   un   testo   inglese tradotto   dall’italiano   contenga   più   caratteri   dell’originale.   Naturalmente   lo   stesso   fenome- no   si   produrrà   anche   in   senso   opposto.   Invece   è   un   altro   fatto   linguistico,   che   il   tedesco contiene   molto   più   parole   composte   (zusammengesetzte   Worte)   che   non   l‘italiano.   Questo porta   al   fenomeno,   che   un   testo   tradotto   al   tedesco   contenga   molti   più   caratteri,   benché   il numero   delle   parole   sia   quasi   uguale   o   addirittura   inferiore   a   quello   del   testo   originale italiano o inglese.     INIZIO PAGINA

UNTERSTÜTZTE SPRACHEN

Kleinere Rechtschreib- oder Grammatikfehler:

      Selbst   eine   gründlich   kontrollierte   Übersetzung   kann   kleinere   Fehler   enthalten.   Ich   über- prüfe   die   endgültige   Fassung   meiner   Übersetzungen   mindestens   5-mal   (davon   2-mal   mittels lautem   Vorlesen),   aber   es   zeigt   sich   leider   immer   wieder,   dass   manchmal   in   langen   und komplexen   Texten   ein   oder   mehrere   kleinere   Fehler   zurückbleiben.   Für   derartige   Fehler,   so ärgerlich   sie   auch   sein   mögen,   gewähre   ich   in   Abhängigkeit   vom   jeweiligen   Fall   im   allge- meinen keine nachträgliche Preisreduktion.

Sinnrelevante Übersetzungsfehler:

      Wenn   mir   eine   Satzkonstruktion   oder   ein   bestimmter   Begriff   nicht   klar   sind,   nehme   ich umgehend   Kontakt   mit   meinen   Kunden   auf,   sei   es,   weil   es   sich   um   einen   schwer   aufzu- lösenden   Begriff   handelt,   der   nicht   im   Kontext   in   anderen   Texten   gefunden   werden   kann, sei   es,   weil   in   sprachlicher   Hinsicht   eine   Unklarheit   besteht.   Dies   als   „vorbeugende“   Mass- nahme, um sinnrelevante Übertragungsfehler wenn immer möglich zu vermeiden .       Sollte   es   trotzdem   vorkommen,   dass   ein   Übersetzungsfehler   die   Bedeutung   der   Original- vorlage   erheblich   verändert   hat,   werde   ich   mich   darum   bemühen,   In   Absprache   mit   dem Kunden   eine   zufriedenstellende   Lösung   zu   finden ,   sei   es   durch   einen   Preisnachlass   oder eine   Gutschrift   für   einen   zukünftigen   Auftrag.

AUSGABEFORMATE

          

        Warum fallen Übersetzungen meistens länger aus als das Original? 

        Dafür gibt es zwei Hauptursachen: 1 . Der   innere   Aufbau   einer   Sprache.   Es   ist   seit   langer   Zeit   bekannt,   dass   Übersetzungen   aus dem   Lateinischen   ins   Deutsche   bis   zu   40%   länger   sein   können   als   der   originale   Text.   Ein Grund   hierfür   ist   im   äusserst   präzisen   Aufbau   des   Lateinischen   zu   suchen,   der   es   erlaubt, auch   komplexe   Konzepte   in   kurzer   und   prägnanter   Form   auszudrücken.   Ein   anderer   Grund ist,   dass   die   umfassende   Flexion   sowie   andere   grammatikalische   Gegebenheiten   im   Latei- nischen   es   ermöglichen,   den   Gebrauch   gewisser   Konstruktionen   und   Paraphrasen   zu   ver- meiden.   Das   Gleiche   gilt   in   geringerem   Ausmass   auch   für   Übersetzungen   aus   dem   Italien- ischen   ins   Deutsche.   Hingegen   könnten   Übersetzungen   aus   dem   Italienischen   ins   Engli- sche, oder umgekehrt, praktisch gleich lang sein, gäbe es nicht noch einen weiteren Faktor: 2 . Ein   übersetzter   Text   fällt   meist   länger   aus   als   das   Original,   weil   dieses   in   den   meisten   Fällen in    der    Muttersprache    des    Schreibenden    konzipiert    wurde,    und    es    oft    vorkommt,    dass gewisse   Redewendungen   und   sprachliche   Elemente   vom   Übersetzer   nicht   1:1   übertragen werden   können.   In   diesem   Fall   ist   der   Übersetzende   gezwungen,   diese   Redewendungen aus   sprachlichen   Gründen   in   leicht   veränderter   Form   und   weniger   direkt   auszudrücken, was   leider   nicht   ohne   “Verluste”   und   dem   Einsatz   von   Paraphrasen   einhergeht.   Daher kommt   es   oft   vor,   dass   auch   ein   Text,   der   aus   dem   Italienischen   ins   Englische   übertragen wurde,   mehr   Zeichen   als   das   Original   enthält.   Das   gleiche   Phänomen   ist   natürlich   auch   in umgekehrter   Richtung   zu   beobachten.   Eine   weitere   Besonderheit   der   deutschen   Sprache ist,    dass    sie    mehr    zusammengesetzte    Worte    besitzt    als    etwa    das    Englische    oder    das Italienische.   Diese   Tatsache   führt   dazu,   dass   ein   ins   Deutsche   übersetzter   Text   zwar   fast   die gleiche   Anzahl   Worte   wie   im   Original   aufweisen   kann,   aber   trotzdem   eine   grössere   Anzahl von Zeichen umfasst.            NACH OBEN SEITENANFANG

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Small spelling or grammatical errors:

         Even   a   thoroughly   controlled   translation   may   contain   small   errors.   I   check   the   final   version of   my   translations   at   least   5    times   (reading   them   out   aloud    twice   as   well) ,    but   unfortunately reality   shows   that   in   long   and   complex   translations   one   or   two   small   errors   may   remain.   For those   kinds   of   errors   (annoying   as   they   may   be),   I   usually   will   not   give   a   refund,   though being subject to the particular circumstances of the translation involved.  

Translation errors affecting meaning:

         As   a   general   rule,   I   will   contact   my   clients   first,   if   a   given   phrasal   construction   or   a   specific term   are   not   clear   to   me,   be   it   because   they   cannot   be   found   in   context,   be   it   that   there appears   to   be   a   linguistic   problem.   This   proactive   measure   ought   to   minimize   the   risk   of translation   errors,   resulting   in   a   distorted   or   incorrect   rendering   of   the   original,   something that is to be avoided at all costs.          Nevertheless,   should   an   error   have   occurred   that   significantly   changes   the   meaning   of   the original   text,   it   shall   be   my   duty   to   find   a   satisfactory   agreement   with   my   customers ,   either in   offering   them   a   reduction   in   the   agreed   price   or   a   voucher   for   a   future   translation   / assignment.

DOCUMENT SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

Why are translations usually longer than the original?

        There are two main reasons for this: 1 . The   internal   structure   of   a   language.   It   has   been   a   well-documented   fact   for   a   long   time that   translations   from   the   Latin   into   German   may   be   up   to   40%   longer   than   the   original text.   One   reason   for   that   is   the   extremely   precise   structure   of   the   Latin   language,   that allows   complex   concepts   to   be   expressed   in   a   short   and   concise   form.   Another   reason   is that   the   comprehensive   inflexion   and   other   grammatical   factors   in   Latin   make   it   possible to   avoid   the   use   of   certain   constructions,   prepositions   and   paraphrases.   The   same   applies to   a   lesser   extent   to   translations   from   Italian   and   English   into   German.   On   the   other   hand, translations   from   Italian   into   English   or   vice   versa   could   be   practically   the   same   length, were it not for the following: 2 . A   translated   text   is   usually   longer   than   the   original,   because   the   latter   was   conceived   in   the writer's   native   tongue,   and   it   is   unfortunately   not   always   possible   to   translate   certain   ex- pressions   directly   and   without   paraphrasing   them.   The   translator   is   therefore   sometimes forced   to   render   those   phrasal   elements   in   a   different,   less   straightforward   way   for   purely linguistic   reasons .   For   that   reason   alone   a   text   that   has   been   translated   from   Italian   into English   or   vice   versa,   will   usually   contain   more   characters   than   the   original.   A   peculiarity   of the   German   language   is   the   fact   that   it   possesses   a   great   number   of   compound   words, resulting   in   the   strange   phenomenon   that   although   the   translated   text   may   have   almost the   same   number   of   words   as   the   Italian   or   English   original,   it   nevertheless   contains   a   far greater number of characters.

Piccoli errori d’ortografia oppure di grammatica:

         Anche   da   una   traduzione   rigorosamente   controllata   possono   emergere   piccoli   errori.   A versione   ultimata   Traduzioni   Pedemonte    controlla   i   testi   con   5   riletture:   nonostante   ciò l’esperienza   dimostra   che,   specialmente   in   testi   molto   lunghi,   o   complicati,   talvolta   possa sfuggire   qualche   piccolo   errore.         In   questi   casi,   il   cliente   normalmente   non   ha   diritto   ad   una riduzione sul prezzo concordato (sempre secondo il caso specifico).

Errori di traduzione:

         Come   regola   generale,   contatto   i   miei   clienti   se   una   specifica   costruzione   di   frase,   o   un termine   non   siano   chiari,      o   perché   si   tratti   di   un   termine   talmente   specializzato   che   risulta impossibile   trovarlo   in   altri   testi   o   contesti,   oppure   perché   potrebbe   esserci   un   problema   dal punto   di   vista   linguistico:   per   non   correre   il   rischio   che   si   creino   errori   di   significato   da evitare assolutamente .          Nel   caso   in   cui   si   dovesse   verificare   un   errore,   che   cambi   in   modo   significativo   il   senso della   frase   originale,   sarà   mio   dovere   trovare   un   accordo   soddisfacente   per   il   cliente,   sia   per una riduzione di prezzo, sia per offrire un buono per un prossimo incarico.
